When I started out, I’ve only experienced emailing an editor once, asking if I needed a completed draft first. And some publications request for your handle so they can check out your work before they decide if you’re a fit, and I was a newb, so I just threw it in there. I regret that email immediately lol. I’m sure it came out the wrong way! It wasn’t spam though lol.
