There is a saying, 'How we begin determines how (if if) we end.' A connection that exists in the digital world and becomes a one-night stand almost cannot ever escape the purely 1/0 realm of the digital. On a broader social level, having a whole lot of people like that reduces every aspect f social cohesion.
