Thank you for sharing this story; it was the first time I’d heard it, although similar cases of discrimination and injustices happened in Canada. Mrs. Tape’s letter was touching, and I admired her unwavering persistence in trying to help her daughter get a proper education, but it left me feeling defeated by the end. The posters, as well. It’s all profoundly saddening, and I think it is paramount these stories be taught in schools as part of American history. How can we stop Asian hate when most people have no clue where it stems from?
